Truth

I love music as much as the next girl, but when someone gives me a song because it made them think of me, that hits different. Don't get me wrong, if it's something I haven't heard before, I kind of hold my breath until it's confirmed it's a GOOD reason they thought of me. 🥴🫣 I have to listen a few times. The first time or two help me just listen to the lyrics, and find the meaning of the song. Then I listen to see how it could apply to someone else. After that, I listen to see if I can see how this song made them think of me.

That may sound overcomplicated to you, but if someone sends YOU, a single song, that's a compliment. They thought of you, want to encourage you, empathize with you, let them know they see you. I want to really understand why they sent that song to me, and also that I'm not seeing it through a tinted lens.

My dear friend and sister in Christ shared a song with me, that made her think of me. So I did what I do, and followed the listening protocol. It was a beautiful song as far as her voice and the melody. The song became even more beautiful as I listened, and re-listened to the lyrics. The singer, Megan Woods- song The Truth, sings about how the enemy is consistently telling her lies, and eventually we wear down and start to believe them, right?

Then there's a shift in the atmosphere when she powers up and says she's done listening to the lies. She speaks the Truth. She speaks of the goodness of our God, how He always reminds us who, and Whose, we are. She doesn't deny that the lies are going to keep coming, and we'll be in constant spiritual warfare against them.

I'd love for you to listen to this song and add it to your library. I also would encourage you to listen how I do: a few times for familiarity, a few times to see how it applies to someone else, then how it applies to you.

If you're reading this, I could listen to this song and tell you 1,000,000 reasons this song was about you. It's a little harder when you're looking at yourself. So, I just listened until I saw what Sue saw.

Finally, I was able to listen with ears that hear. I am pretty open about my struggles and how the Lord guides me through them. How I've battled feelings of inadequacy, unworthiness, feeling like an outsider just to name a few. I didn't ask her what exactly reminded her of me, but I heard a woman who was tired of the lies ruling her life, and was ready for the Truth to set her free. That's me!!! I'm still fighting the enemy daily, but girl I am READY to believe those beautiful truths from God. I'm the Daughter of the King. I make Him smile, make Him proud. I am made in His image!? *remember that next time you're unhappy with what you see in the mirror #convicting

John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Who else wants to be free in the Truth?!

  1. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. -Isaiah 26:3
  2. The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. -Deuteronomy 31:8
  3. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. -John 16:33
  4. The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. -Psalm 37:23-24

Want His peace? Keep your mind steadfast in Him and trust in the Lord. God can't leave someone who's never accepted Him. Accept Him, and He's always there. The world is broken, God is whole. He is the Overcomer. The steps are firm for those who believe; not for everyone. So I ask you today, have you accepted God? Do you know Him? Is your mind steadfast or caught up in the world? I'm working on a lot of these myself, but it's important that we as believers are holding each other accountable in our walks.

Every day we're fighting the lies of the enemy; some loud and in our faces, others subtle coming from just behind. But sister, the Truth is always right there, but are we listening? Sometimes choosing to listen to the truth is hard because there is a radical distance between the truth, and the lies the enemy feeds us.

If the enemy says we aren't worthy, it's easy to believe. We don't like it, but it's effortless to believe. When we hear we ARE worthy, we want to believe, but it takes a lot of effort sometimes to accept it. Keep putting in the effort. Keep fighting the flesh that's making it so hard to believe the beautiful truth and promises God has for you.

I encourage you to really dig into your Bible, and find the truths that you want to believe, but are having a hard time with. Read them, write them out, post them, whatever it takes for you to envelop yourself within them. Pray about why the lies are easier to accept, and fight them with Truth.

YOU are the 1 He left the 99 for. Seek God's truths, and when you look in the mirror, remember Whose image you were created in.
